Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated practitioner to join Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT). EPUT is a highly successful and ambitious organisation dedicated to providing mental health services, substance misuse services and other specialist award-winning services to a population of approximately 2.5 million throughout Essex, Bedfordshire and Suffolk.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful mental health practitioner who will have the ability to respond positively and creatively to the needs of our service users and their networks. To empower them to develop their own plans of support moving forward that can be resourced and supported by the professional network where needed.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting new opportunity for a band 6 mental health worker based within the Linden centre adult inpatient wards. You will be part of the development of the trust's nationally Recognised award-winning Mental Health Family Group Conference Service.
The adult mental health family group conference is unique to Essex but has influenced the development of this approach internationally in adult care services and continues to demonstrate effective outcomes for service users and their families in crisis management, recovery planning and addressing safeguarding concerns.
Working for our organisation
EPUT is looking for motivated staff who share our Trust values of Care, Learn and Empower. In return, EPUT can offer you a range of benefits and development including;
* Season Ticket Loans
* NHS discounts for staff
* Excellent Training facilities and opportunities
* Buying and Selling annual leave scheme
* The opportunity to work bank shifts and expand knowledge and experience in other areas
* Salary Sacrifice schemes including lease cars and Cycle to Work
* Day One Flexible Employer
The Trust supports and actively encourages flexible working for all employees. We offer many options and you are encouraged to ask the recruiting manager what is possible for this role. If appointed, you will have the opportunity to apply for a flexible working request from the first day of your employment.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The model's fundamental belief is that service users and their networks are capable of self-agency. Good support is given to empower service users to identify areas of need, their individual feelings, concerns, strengths and possible solutions. Support is then given to consider how these can be shared with the wider network and how they will manage potential conflicts to enable this to happen effectively. Ownership is given to the family group to achieve this for themselves. The purpose being that coming together will improve both understanding and relationships in order to be able to move forward with recovery management, planning and motivation, but also build on the strengths of the network to continue to be able to problem-solve together once professionals withdraw.
Recruitment will be open to all qualified health/social care professionals. Teams will be provided with training on the model prior to recruitment. The practitioners will be part of the Ward staff team but will have additional support/supervision from the established Adult MHFGC service in EPUT. You will receive training in the Family group conference model and then be using this to support service users and their families to come together in crisis presentations to develop their own management and support plans within the inpatient service.
We are looking for a motivated person, who is able to work well under pressure, whilst upholding the principles of empowerment and realising the view that the involvement of carers/relatives/wider network of support & the provision of support are key components to management of crisis and recovery.
We welcome expressions of interest and feel free to contact the team if you wish to understand this post further.
