What is the overall job?
This role will be based at Peterborough City Hospital. Peterborough City Hospital is now regarded as the City's most significant building project since the cathedral was built in 1238. The healthcare campus features a 612-bed, 22-theatre Major Acute Hospital; a 98-bed Mental Health Unit; a 39-bed City Care Centre; a multi-storey car park; helicopter pad; hard and soft landscaping and highway works. You will be based on site with an option for some remote working.
The Fabric Craftsman – Fire Doors will be responsible for providing technical support to the Fabric Maintenance Team in the delivery of the hard facilities management service, performing the role as Building Fabric Craftsman for the City Care Centre, the Cavell Centre and Peterborough City Hospital. Other key responsibilities will include:
* Report to and work closely with the Maintenance Supervisors relating to the building fabric operations at the City Care Centre, the Cavell Centre and the Peterborough City Hospital.
* Act as Appointed Person (AP) in support of contract operations, as designated and recorded on the AP Register.
* Undertake building fabric reactive and planned maintenance tasks and small new works.
* Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental legislation and standards.
* Any other responsibilities or duties as directed by Line Manager or other appropriate manager.
* Collaborate with other staff on one's own initiative and support other members of the contract team as required.
* Support the Management and Technical team to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with contract KPI's including contractual response times.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
* A suitably experienced individual, with relevant building services experience and a proven track record of operating within a multi-discipline capacity.
* Experience in healthcare projects would be an advantage.
* Appropriate experience/qualification in fire door inspection and maintenance.
* Ability and willingness to learn and have a “can do” attitude.
* Must be able to work at heights and off ladders, and in confined spaces.
* A good standard of written & verbal communication skills.
