Cheltenham Town FC Academy is welcoming applications for an Academy Head of Recruitment who will oversee the planning and implementation of our Academy Recruitment & Talent ID strategy. Our current long-serving Academy Head of Recruitment is transitioning into a new role as the Academy Head Scout.
We are looking for an individual who can identify future players for the Academy, manage a small and dedicated team of volunteer scouts and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
The Academy Head of Recruitment will report to the Academy Manager and have responsibility for leading our Pre-Academy talent identification centre and leading the Academy's weekly recruitment planning. The successful candidate will be someone with a passion for identifying young talent and a desire to develop as an individual.
The role would suit someone with local knowledge of grassroots clubs and experience in coaching and/or scouting in an elite sporting organisation. The ideal candidate will hold the FA Introduction to Talent Identification (essential), the FA National Talent Identification and Scouting (desirable / will be required to obtain) and a UEFA C football coaching qualification (desirable).
The role is part-time (up to 10 hours a week) and would suit someone who has the flexibility to work an evening a week and attend weekend fixtures. At present the role would be paid in line with the national living wage. There is a strategic ambition for the role to grow in the future.
The successful candidate will be joining a growing Category 3 Academy with a dedicated and experienced staff that is striving to be the best they possibly can be. The Club are continuing to strengthen our Academy player pathways and invest further in the Academy program to give local boys the best opportunity to develop and progress.

Overall purpose of the job
To lead and manage the scouting and recruitment department to achieve its aims and objectives.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
* Manage, liaise and support scouts with their duties
* Lead on the organisation and delivery of the Talent ID centre
* Attend the academy management team's weekly meeting
* Organise and lead the scouts' meeting every month
* Organise and lead the recruitment meeting every month
* Manage the player reporting system
* Jointly with the AM identify the Academy’s recruitment needs
* Communicate decisions to invite players and provide feedback
* Manage the onboarding of trialists (communication to parents, emails to schools and grassroots clubs, EFL registration)
* Manage trialist transitions (exit or sign – gather feedback)
* Comply with the scouting code of conduct
* Attend fixtures as required to identify and scout players
