About the role At John Lewis Partnership we are driving change through a value stream model the purpose of which is Enable aligned business, change and technology outcomes at the right pace and lower costs. As an Enterprise Agility Coach your role is to enable and ensure ongoing improvement and maturity with regard to ways of working for how change is delivered in the value streams. This will be delivered within a value stream construct against agreed frameworks and adherence to them by Product teams, Projects teams, Continuous improvement squads and through communities of practice. At a glance Working pattern - This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will be split between working from home and the Bracknell Head Office. There will be occasional travel to our other offices. Contract type - Permanent What you will do Your core focus in these areas will be: Product Coaching teams to accelerate maturity in product ways of working with a focus on improvement in work flow adoption, data driven improvement of delivery and the use and maturity of flow metrics for the purposes of learning and improving how we work. You will also ensure OKRS are moving in the right direction (i.e the right work is being done at pace). Projects/Programmes Be a hands on coach to enable the application of flow principles to project work, ensuring efficient delivery of projects in a value stream, removing waste and delays, improving the flow of value, and increasing throughput for project ways of working. Continuous Improvement This will be done by providing expertise in two ways under the CI framework Ensuring that problems are diagnosed correctly from the customer’s point of view, and that they are systemic/holistic and end-to-end in nature based on real world observations and reliable data. Solutions will be Design driven, hypothesis-based and can be tracked reliably by driving measurable outcomes. This role will ensure that the changes are lasting and significant in that they solve real end-to-end problems that create better service outcomes at lower cost. Engaging with a community of practice to build local use of the CI tools in the framework to drive a DNA of improvement in all areas of the partnership This role will be operating at team level and project/initiative level in a value stream. Work independently in value streams to accelerate maturity of ways of working by leveraging the Partnership frameworks for delivering change, Product, Project or CI and coaching teams to apply them Promote enterprise agility across the organisation to drive awareness and adoption, create engagement, and ensure we are at the forefront of the latest thinking. Essential Skills you’ll need Systems Thinking practitioner - You understand & can apply Systems Thinking as a mindset shift and have experience in identifying opportunities and how to transform ways of working to learn as quickly as possible what works and how to scale it Defining method & Capability Building - Expertise in identifying, designing, maintaining and creating methods and learning products that builds capability across how the partnership does change Stakeholder management - I dentifies key stakeholders, their motivations and priorities, and considers these when building and managing relationships. Anticipates stakeholder challenges and proactively plans for these, displaying strong communication Coaching - Coaches others to unlock their potential and role models supportive coaching behaviours Influencing decisions and stakeholders - Works collaboratively through active listening and assertive communication to reach win-win outcomes. Adapts style to influence stakeholders and keeps Partnership interest as the forefront of decision making. Agile Approach - Able to easily adapt according to circumstance and change approach as required Continuous Improvement - Consistently demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset Experience in one of these or more is essential, Systems thinking, lean and agile/product techniques which should include higher-level certifications such as Prokanban APK, recognised lean qualifications or any academic systems thinking certifications (post graduate diploma in systems thinking as an example) Understanding of and proven experience in facilitating, mentoring, training and/or offering professional coaching Working experience in one or more of the following Agile methods or frameworks: Kanban, Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), LeSS, DAD, or a proven track record in applying lean and/or systemic e2e system redesign outside of software teams Ability to flex between applying lean and flow principles in many situations in different work systems. Desirable Skills Working experience in applying the Vanguard method and or Deming's 14 point system of profound knowledge Experience of applying the above in a retail environment.
