Position Summary
Work in a manufacturing laboratory setting using mammalian cell culture practices and techniques. Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP. Understand and follow safety policies as it relates to biological and chemical components and equipment to protect personnel and maintain product quality.
Schedule process work flows for host cell and virus processes. Facilitate changes within the area by coordinating them with the team. Maintain leadership while helping a team to achieve GMP standards within the manufacturing area.
Hours: 1st shift, 7:15am – 3:45pm.
Position Responsibilities
* Perform processes and operate equipment required for production of bulk viral antigen.
* Understand and apply good cell culture practices as it relates to viral and antibody production. Operate equipment involved in downstream processing of production bulk fluids (e.g., tangential flow filtration, hollow-fiber filtration, sterile filtration, etc.).
* Using knowledge of bioreactors/fermentors and support equipment, apply skills to identify mechanical problems and maintain equipment.
* Understand, follow, and complete process documentation in support of GMP.
* Assist in leading a team by holding teammates accountable within the manufacturing area. Help problem solve difficult situations while maintaining composure and professionalism.
* Self-guided work on special projects for continuous improvement of the area. Apply writing skills to write change controls, Standard Operating Procedures, or manufacturing investigations.
* Guide colleagues on special projects, learning change controls, updating SOPs, or writing manufacturing investigations.
Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent required. BS in Biological sciences preferred. Preference given to applicants with relevant experience in biological production and/or aseptic manufacturing.
Technical Skills Requirements
* Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
* Mammalian cell culture practices and techniques are desirable.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, computer skills and working knowledge of metric system.
* Fundamental understanding of bioreactors/fermenters, roller bottles and aseptic work is desirable.
* Basic understanding of the outlines of production and how it dictates manufacturing.
* Knowledge of Event Tracking System and experience with writing investigation reports for quality is preferable.
* Good working relations across ABI and the site is preferred.
* Understanding of SAP transactions, Bill of Materials, and knowledge in investigating discrepancies.
Physical Position Requirements
Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, live steam, temperature fluctuations, biohazards, continuous standing and lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs.
