We are seeking a caring, motivated, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team at a vibrant secondary school in Hartlepool. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for helping students succeed, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Individual and Group Support: Provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, including one-to-one support and group interventions.
* Classroom Assistance: Assist classroom teachers in delivering lessons by supporting students during activities, ensuring they are fully engaged and understanding the content.
* SEN Support: Work with students with a range of special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their personal and academic goals.
* Behaviour and Emotional Support: Assist in managing student behaviour, promoting positive behaviour strategies, and providing emotional support where needed.
* Monitoring Progress: Help track student progress, including keeping records of students’ work and achievements, and providing feedback to teachers on students’ development.
* Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to share insights, implement support plans, and ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
* Encourage Independence: Help students develop their independence, confidence, and self-esteem, fostering an environment where they can thrive academically and socially.
* Adaptation of Resources: Support in adapting learning resources and materials to meet the needs of individual students, ensuring inclusivity in the learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
* Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or SEN setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a difference in students’ lives.
* A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative and adapt quickly to changing situations.
* Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential.
* Relevant qualifications such as GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred.
