Research Fellow
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join our dynamic research team for a 12-month project focused on the fabrication and testing of a regenerative shock absorber. This innovative project aims to design, fabricate, and test industrially applicable prototypes of regenerative shock absorbers, with the ultimate goal of accelerating their commercialisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the project supervisor, lab technicians, and industrial partners to design and fabricate prototypes of regenerative shock absorbers.
Conduct rigorous testing of prototypes under real-world conditions to validate theoretical models and refine practical applications.
Identify and address unforeseen challenges that arise during the design, fabrication, and testing phases.
Optimise the performance and durability of the prototypes through iterative testing and refinement.
Document and analyse experimental data, preparing detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to the preparation of research publications and presentations at conferences and workshops.
Assist in the supervision and mentoring of junior researchers and students involved in the project.
Qualifications:
A PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Strong background in the design and fabrication of mechanical systems, with specific experience in shock absorbers or similar technologies being highly desirable.
Proficiency in using CAD software and other design tools.
Experience with experimental testing and data analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on industry-academia collaborative projects.
Knowledge of regenerative technologies and their applications.
Familiarity with the commercialisation process of engineering products.
What We Offer:
An exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project with significant potential for real-world impact.
Access to state-of-the-art research facilities and resources.
Collaboration with leading experts in the field and industrial partners.
Professional development opportunities, including training and workshops.
A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and innovation.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
A cover letter outlining their relevant experience and motivation for applying.
A detailed CV, including a list of publications.
Contact information for at least two academic or professional references.
* Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
