Duties of the Occupational Therapist:
* To practice as a Best Interests Assessor to support Council Supervisory Body to fulfil its statutory duties in relation to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* To undertake complex Best Interests Assessments requiring high level, specialist expertise, to enable response to incoming referrals.
* To practice as prescribed by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007 Codes of Practice, and in line with relevant Department of Health Guidance.
* To undertake all duties relating to the process and practice of Best Interests Assessment, in an efficient and effective manner, and in accordance with Medway DOLS Office policies and procedures.
* To cooperate fully with the DoLS Team Manager with regard to rota planning, release and leave arrangements.
* To work alongside DOLS Office colleagues and Best Interests Assessors in complex cases, providing both co-working and support and advice.
Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
* Recent UK experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
* Recent NHS experience.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Car driver - Preferable.
