The Job:
The aim of the job is to provide support and assistance to a young woman, who lives within the family home, with her health and care needs, physical, postural, and visual difficulties. The young woman is a permanent wheelchair user and has Epilepsy.
The young woman is very sociable and has good communication skills. She enjoys and participates in weekly work, leisure, social and learning activities.
You will be employed by the young woman and become part of a small established team, with a Senior Personal Assistant providing 2:1 support for all moving and handling tasks. A minimum level of 1:1 support is required for all activities throughout the day. 2:1 sleepover support is also required for holidays and short breaks.
As a Personal Assistant you will provide support and assistance to enable the employer to be safely involved and as independent as possible.
Tasks will include:
Personal Care incl. Stoma Care
Administering of medication
Social support
Support and assistance in the Hydrotherapy pool (2:1 support/weekly session)
Support to use technology
The young woman is looking for an experienced Female Personal Assistant who is friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour and a can-do, encouraging attitude. They must be reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
It is vital that you have good communication and listening skills. A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations are essential.
The ability to undertake moving and handling duties throughout the day is a requirement of the role. Moving and handling experience is preferred, although training will be provided.
As there is the use of a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, a driver is preferred.

Shifts to be varied, worked on a rota, full or half days across Monday to Sunday. Days and times are flexible and to be arranged with the employer.
Some weekend, evenings and overnight support is required.
The Rate of Pay and Benefits:
£14.30 per hour and £87.20 per sleepover (11pm - 7am). Any hours which required you to be awake and working during a sleepover, would revert to at least National Minimum Wage.
Time and a half paid when working on a Bank Holiday.
5.6 weeks (pro-rata) paid holidays per year.
The post is subject to a DBS Check and satisfactory references. The cost of the DBS check will be met by the Employer.
