Transport Manager (£40 – 50,000.00 per annum DOE)
Our client is an established growing business (Tier 1 Contractor to the UK’s largest Telecoms Company) operating within the Telecoms Utilities Sector, based in Wellingborough, Northants.
They are seeking a fully qualified and experienced Transport Manager to work from their East Midlands Office overseeing two depots. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to expand the role and develop a career in line with the expansion of the Company.
This is a full-time role requiring the Transport Manager to safely and effectively manage and oversee a fleet of around 46 vehicles (16 of which are HGVs).
With demonstrable experience as a Transport Manager, you’ll have solid industry experience, excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to work logically and systematically. You’ll bring with you strong interpersonal skills, a can do and will do attitude and most importantly, a positive attitude towards learning and growth with a passion for ensuring that their fleet operates safely.
The role will involve responsibilities such as:
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of a fleet of around 46 vehicles working over two depots (Wellingborough and Motherwell).
2. Work with the Company to establish further depots in line with Company growth (there is the possibility to add 2 – 3 more depots over time).
3. Make sure vehicles are properly maintained, carrying out regular vehicle inspections.
4. Arrange repairs and routine maintenance.
5. Ensure that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications.
6. Monitor and report on transportation costs.
7. Maintain and complete accurate records.
8. Act as the Company point of contact for any queries from the Traffic Commissioner.
9. Keep up to date with new/revised transport/fleet operations legislation and advise the Directors on any actions needed to ensure compliance.
10. Understand and meet the Company’s Operating Licence obligations.
11. Work closely with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss reporting and emergency procedures.
This is a high growth area of their business, and you would be joining at a very exciting time, with responsibility for developing a department to help deliver this growth. The role should ideally be based within commuting distance of Wellingborough with occasional travel to Scotland.
