This is a keyrole in developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and birthing people with mentalhealth problems, complex social disadvantage, and other health and/or social vulnerabilities through pregnancy and into the postnatal period, including support for theirfamilies. You will work collaboratively with professional colleagues to provide midwifery care to women and people with mental health/complex social disadvantage and have a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills, which you will use tomanage, develop,andleadcare. You will be responsible for providing extra support and care to women and birthing people with moderate to severe mental health problems, in partnership with their own midwife and the SpecialistPerinatalMental Health Team.
Service provision is firmly rooted in the sphere of public health and seeks to consider and address all aspects of severe and multiple disadvantages. This includes working to tackle inequalities in health informed by an understanding of the social determinants of health. The post holder will be responsible for providing care to a defined caseload of pregnant women and birthing people with mental health/complex social disadvantage, providing high standards of care in a range of environments ensuring a holistic approach.
The post holder will deliver an appropriate care package that will address health, mental health needs and social care needs. The service will also link with a wide range of other agencies in perinatal mental health, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse and the learning disabilities team.
