Purpose of the Role:
A fantastic entry route into motorsports, you will be trained in all aspects involved with the composite assembly, lamination and trimming operations and assemblies to support our Formula One team within our composites departments at the McLaren Racing Composites (MRC) facility. Principally tooling, laminating, trimming and bonding of various composite components.
This programme will start in September 2025.
Role Dimensions:
This is a Monday to Friday dayshift role, working in our Composite Laminating and Trim and Assembly depepartments. The successful candidate(s) will be based full time at the McLaren Racing Composite facility with remote learning provided by the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) to underpin the knowledge of composite manufacturing fundamentals.
The successful candidate(s) will work in a hybrid delivery model of blended learning of virtual and face to face delivery between the Woking and Sheffield sites for 24 months. AMRC will provide onsite practical lessons at McLaren Racing Composites.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Training in the basics of laminating, trimming and assembly will be covered in the first 24 months. This will include, but not limited to; trimming, bonding, safe hand tool use, ‘pre-preg’ and ‘wet’ laminating, tool manufacture, composite materials, autoclave / oven use, vacuum bagging. Working with supplied drawings and cad models
2. Maintain an e-portfolio log-book and ensure all apprenticeship relevant work is up to date for monthly reviews.
3. Responsible for the cleanliness and housekeeping in the workplace.
4. To learn, understand and implement health and safety legislation as it applies in the workplace.

Apprenticeship eligibility requirements:
5. 5 GCSE qualifications of grade 5 / C or above, to include Maths, English, and Science
6. You must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years
7. Level 2 Engineering Qualification or similar would be beneficial but isn't required.
8. A successful application will also depend on passing the AMRC assessment process

McLaren Racing Composites (MRC) is based at the McLaren Racing Composites Facility in Woking Business Park. This is a new state-of-the-art production centre with the latest in CNC machines and autoclave technology, an open plan office, gym and quiet room.
