We are looking for skilled and compassionate Health Care Professionals (HCPs) to join our South Yorkshire police custody service, providing vital care to vulnerable individuals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
We provide Healthcare in the following custody suites in Barnsley S70 2DL, Doncaster DN1 3HX, and Shepcote S9 1TP; therefore, no two days will be the same. This is a unique opportunity to support a range of custody services within South Yorkshire.
To join our team, you will need:
* A Professional Qualification (RN, RMN)/Paramedic with 3 years post-qualifying experience.
* Current registration with the NMC/HCPC.
* Experience in areas such as A&E, primary care, mental health, and substance misuse.
* Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
Main duties of the job
As an HCP in police custody, you will provide high-quality care to detainees, ensuring their health, safety, and wellbeing while in custody. Working closely with police staff and other professionals, you will play a vital role in delivering clinical assessments and managing health risks.
Main duties will include:
* Conducting physical and mental health assessments for detainees.
* Administering medications and managing ongoing health conditions.
* Delivering first aid and emergency care as needed.
* Supporting individuals experiencing mental crises/substance misuse withdrawal.
* Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to confidentiality in line with policy and procedure.
* Liaising with multidisciplinary teams, including police staff and external health services.
