Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist for Falls

Reporting to the Lead Nurse for Falls, the post holder will be an expert Clinical Nurse Specialist and be able to demonstrate specialist clinical competence and knowledge base. With the support of the Lead Nurse, the post holder will lead the Falls Service at the designated work base, whilst providing team support at other sites as required.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical advice to healthcare professionals within the trust, providing direct support and advice to the approximate 1818 yearly falls reported Trust Wide.
The post holder will provide site-based falls leadership and specialist professional advice to the nursing and multidisciplinary teams, provide specialist advice at the Fundamentals of Care Panel, assisting with report writing, presenting to committees of interest whilst providing day-to-day support with patient assessment and proactive falls prevention.
Lead the embedding of improvement initiatives and develop new opportunities for improving the Falls Service and quality of patient care.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
Provide effective, holistic, patient care through safety and risk assessment to individual patients, using expert clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate the complex health care needs of patients at risk of falls and patients post fall care.
Provide expert advice to nursing and multidisciplinary teams on best practice relating to decision making and risk assessment with interventions to keep patients safe from risk of falls and falls resulting in harm.
Provide expert support to nursing teams caring for patients with complex physiological and psychological requirements, such as the recommendations for management of care needs, diagnostic investigations, neurological observations as per NICE guidance. Advise on medications that are attributed to falls risk.
Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence for the multidisciplinary team, patients and carers for guidance and support.

Qualifications and training
* Professional NMC registration
* Minimum 3 years post-registration qualification experience.
* Experience in falls prevention and awareness of patient safety.
* Evidence of facilitating learning in practice
* Management in a leadership capacity
* Evidence of on-going personal and professional development
* Working towards a Master's Degree.
Clinical skills and experience
* Experience in teaching others/presenting to large groups.
