Job summary Summary of the Role: To work as part of a highly skilled, dedicated team maintaining the high standards of an accredited Sterile Services Department (SSD). To undertake duties, as directed, by the SSD leads across all areas of the Department. The Sterile Services Department is accredited to ISO 13485:2016 which maintains the highest standards of quality and service delivery for the decontamination and sterile service needs of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and other Healthcare providers. Simply Serve Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary company that has been set up by Yeovil Hospital to manage its non-clinical support services. Shift Patterns:Monday to Friday 07:00 -15:00 and 12:00 - 20:00Rostered Saturday shift of 08:00 -16:00 pm.There will be a requirement to work some Bank Holidays.To participate in an on-call system for out of hours working as required. Main duties of the job SSD staff are responsible for performing daily technical equipment checks as part of quality control, recognizing and reporting any failures. To collect contaminated equipment, clean, disinfect, and sterilize it according to Health and Safety guidelines, and reassemble instruments with precision. Staff operate autoclaves for safe sterilisation, pack and transport sterile equipment, and use traceability systems to record departmental activities. To work safely in specialised areas, report discrepancies, incidents, and accidents promptly, maintain cleanliness, dispose of clinical waste correctly, and adhere to Trust policies. All SSD staff are accountable for recognising and reporting any failures to meet these standards. The frequent collection of soiled hospital equipment from wards, departments and theatres; working within Health and Safety guidance. To hand wash and use appropriate technical equipment to clean, disinfect and sterilise equipment for return to the relevant departments. The cleaning, dismantling / reassembling of instruments received in SSD.
