Technical Sales Consultant

We have a fantastic opening for a Technical Sales Consultant to join our Exhibitions team in the Venue Services department.
You’ll be based at the UK’s largest event space and number one exhibition venue – the NEC. Home to your favourite shows and voted the AEO venue of the year 4 times, we host over 500 events each year, welcoming 2.3 million visitors and over 45,000 exhibiting companies! This role also works across our two convention centres, at the ICC in Birmingham City Centre and Vox on the NEC Campus in Solihull. These venues provide conference and meeting space for up to 8,000 delegates, welcoming over 350,000 delegates every year!
About The Role
This role is responsible for selling and coordinating delivery of rigging services, Audio Visual services, exhibition projects, and special works associated with conventions and events across the NEC, ICC, and VOX. Maximising commercial returns through delivery of revenues and margins that exceed targets.
Day-to-day you will:
1. Understand customer needs and offer appropriate solutions, maximising sales opportunities through cross and upselling to exceed sales and service targets.
2. Manage and coordinate the safe installation and removal of services for exhibitions and events, in conjunction with contractors, service providers and technical teams.
3. Support the Customer Support Co-ordinators with associated administration and problem resolution to ensure agreed service levels and quality standards.
You will also work on live events / special projects, including:
4. Managing set budgets for exhibition projects and special works reporting on all financial aspects.
5. Promoting a full Rigging, Lighting and AudioVisual solution for design, production and installation for both organiser and exhibitor in public space and in-hall requirements.
About You
Our Ideal Candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in a sales and service environment preferably specialising in AV/lights/production. They will be proficient using Auto Cad and be able to work in a fast paced, high pressure, target driven sales environment. A can do attitude, ability to challenge the status quo and focus on detail as well as delivering results are a must, as are excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
