Serco have a role as a OMU Hub Manager at HMP Doncaster. You will lead and direct the work of the OMU staff in providing a comprehensive service to all stakeholders, fostering positive relationships with all relevant outside agencies, whilst embracing the ethos of a managing a rehabilitative culture.
You are required to work as part of the Offender Management Unit in an efficient and professional manner. You will be expected to develop, through training and shared schemes, alongside implementing any changes directed by legislation, an overview of the department, and may be required from time to time to carry out any other tasks as may reasonably be expected.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Ensure all OMU procedures are discharged in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures consistently maintaining high standards.
2. You will be accountable for the effective management of OMU staff to meet the delivery requirements of managing prisoners risk this will include OASys reporting, Sentence Planning, Categorisation, Data Protection, Receptions allocations, Discharges, MAPPA and Public Protection, and Release on Temporary Licence processes Parole and Foreign Nationals in line with Prison Service Orders and local instructions.
3. You will be required to supervise, carry out assurance test and, ensuring consistent and high quality assessments, which are thorough, factual and accurate.
4. Ensure any new processes as per policy changes and any other legislative changes are implemented and run Business as usual within the department.
5. Some of these responsibilities may change in line with Phase 2 of OMiC.
6. Ensure engagement, support, training and motivation of all staff working within the OMU.
7. You will be accountable for the effective people management including absence, as well as individual line management responsibilities of specific staff, to include annual performance reviews, and effectively managing performance.
What you’ll need to do the role:
8. A background in working within offenders or in a custodial environment (desirable)
9. Excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal, including high level of computer literacy.
10. It is essential that you have effective people management skills, with previous demonstrable experience of managing or supervising a busy office environment.
11. Capable of prioritising workloads, delegating tasks and understanding the impact of meeting tight timescales.
12. A motivated individual with the drive and enthusiasm to bring about change and adopt our Rehabilitative culture.
