You will earn £23,152 a year working full time (37 hours a week), or £12 per hour pro rata, as we are a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.
Our Traffic Regulation Order & Parking Team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) Traffic Regulation Order & Parking Technician Officer based at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW, to contribute to our Service helping us to deliver the implementation of traffic and on-street parking related schemes within the city. The team prepares scheme designs and undertakes the legal framework which supports any scheme design, regulation or restriction.
This role will involve working online from home and/or a mix of home and office (hybrid) working.
About the job
In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) role you will learn to:
* assist with preparation of scheme designs (using GIS based IT programs) including minor amendments (e.g., to road or kerb layout),
* locate signing in accordance with DfT and WG guidance,
* assist with on-site surveys and site checks to support scheme completion activities,
* arrange New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) checks.
As a Corporate Apprentice, you will be supported in the workplace to develop the skills you need to make an effective contribution to our Service.
To support your development, you will also undertake a Welsh Government Apprenticeship Framework Qualification in Construction and Built Environment Level 3 (Civil Engineering) in the role, and will receive on-the-job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer-focused manner. You will also be supported by a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferable skills to support your career progression.

This post is not suitable for post share. This post is temporary for 33 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week though many roles can be worked on a part-time basis at a minimum of 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.
