Crofton is seeking a Field Engineer to join our team.
The Field Engineer is responsible for assisting Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Superintendents in the day-to-day responsibilities of the project to which they are assigned. The Field Engineer will be focused on coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
1. Meets daily with project crews to review production schedule & work plans and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production.
2. Coordinates subcontractors on site. Reviews and approves daily timecards for crews.
3. Maintains up to date set of Construction Documents at the job site: Construction Drawings, Specifications, Shop Drawings, SDS’s, RFI’s, Submittals, Purchase Orders, Construction and Delivery Schedules, QC Plan, NCR Log, HASP, JHA’s, Lift Plans, QC inspections, etc.
4. Inspects and tracks deliveries, records any deviations from scheduled deliveries and adjusts delivery dates as necessary to meet Project Schedule.
5. Works with the Assistant Project Manager to resolve technical and engineering queries that arise from the field, including drafting/completing documents such as requests for information, technical inquiry forms, and transmittals.
6. Procures misc. materials and tools for the project.
7. Arranges for surveying and staking out work.
8. Provides necessary layouts. Measures and verifies that work to be installed is per construction drawings and specifications.
9. Maintains as-builts & red-lined drawings.
10. Ensures that work is performed per project QC Plan.
11. Initiates and manages appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
12. Assists Superintendent with meeting health & safety requirements by following approved HASP and maintaining JHA’s, safety inspections, rigging inspections, lift plans, etc. at the job site.
13. Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards.
14. Ensures all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
15. Reports any safety incident within 1 hour of occurrence.
Required Skills/Abilities:

6. Strong knowledge of all phases of Heavy Marine Construction, including work commonly done by other trades is desired.
7. Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel.
8. Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD or MS Project is a plus.
Education and Experience:
1. Formal training in Construction management or education is desired. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
2. Experience in marine construction.
3. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
Physical Requirements:
1. Exposure to characteristic construction and marine site dangers.
2. Adjusting or moving objects up to 40 pounds in all directions.
3. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
4. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
5. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
6. Prolonged periods of sitting.
7. Work in extreme weather conditions.
8. Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
9. Noisy environments.
10. Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
