About the Role
We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of programming, diagnosing, and optimising electrical control systems across a wide range of products. This role offers hands-on involvement in system design, troubleshooting, and electrical modifications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Testing – Develop, configure, and test electrical systems for a diverse range of products.
Fault Diagnosis – Identify and resolve electrical and programming-related issues within build, test, and service.
CAN Communication – Work with CANopen and J1939 protocols for system integration and optimisation.
Parameter Setting – Configure sensors, nodes, telematics, displays, and other system components.
Documentation & Reporting – Create technical documents, maintain data sheets, and log programming updates.
PLC Programming & Circuit Modifications – Design and develop new systems, ensuring efficient control processes.
Field Support – Assist service teams with troubleshooting, including occasional travel across the UK and internationally.
Workload Management – Prioritise daily tasks and ensure smooth execution of projects.
What We’re Looking For
✅ Degree or relevant qualification in electrical engineering, control systems, or PLC programming.
✅ Experience with CAN communication & J1939 protocol is essential.
✅ Knowledge of CoDeSys 2.3 / 3.5 is desirable.
✅ Strong fault-finding skills within electrical systems.
✅ Ability to read electrical schematics & wiring diagrams.
✅ Keen problem solver with a strong learning mindset.
✅ Confident communicator with the ability to explain technical issues to teams and engineers.
✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
