Job summary
The appointee will be expected to work with local managers and professionalcolleagues in the efficient running of the Oral and Maxillofacial department and willshare with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution of management.

Main duties of the job
-Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, the appointee will beexpected to observe the Unit's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up inconsultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing ordersand financial instructions of the Trust. In particular, where the appointee is involved inthe management of employees of the Trust, he/she will be expected to follow the localand national employment and personnel policies and procedures.? The appointee will be expected to make sure there are adequate arrangements forhospital staff involved in the care of his/her patients to be able to contact him or herwhen necessary.? All medical staff employed by the Trust are expected to comply with regional andappropriate Trust health and safety policies? The appointee will have responsibility for the training and supervision of junior medicalstaff who work with him/her and will also be encouraged to attend the local andregional teaching programme? To be responsible for the continuing care of patients as designated by consultant staff.? To participate in minor oral surgery and fast track clinics in the department and in thePoswillow Theatre suite? To participate in audit within the department? To participate in the training of junior medical staff

Qualifications
Essential
1. GMC Registered with license to practice
2. A minimum of 3 years experience at SHO or Registrar (or equivalent level) in the Speciality of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent experience.
3. Proven ability to work as a member of a team Ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads effectively Ability to communicate effectively with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals
4. Knowledge of changes occurring in NHS as a whole and its impact on speciality work. Knowledge of H&S issues.
5. Evidence of continuing professional development. Highly motivated individual Flexible approach
Desirable
6. MSC or other Higher Degree
7. Knowledge of/or participated in original research or audit projects Experience of supervising junior medical staff Ability to teach clinical and operative skills
