Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to work with adoptive families across South Yorkshire. The role is to work with our partner, One Adoption South Yorkshire, and you will be employed and supported by Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust.
The post holder will provide advice and consultation to social workers undertaking family assessments across the 4 South Yorkshire Local Authority adoption teams [Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham & Sheffield] and provide specialist assessments and direct work where required.
There will be opportunities to develop therapeutic approaches in areas such as DDP, NVR and Theraplay, as well as therapeutic parenting courses. The teams and adoptive families are located across the region, so some travelling will be expected, combined with flexible working and working from home options.
The clinical psychologist within One Adoption South Yorkshire will seek to understand and support the child with the ongoing impact of early adversity as well as to recognise and respond to additional difficulties such as neurodevelopmental, educational or familial issues. This will allow for the right therapy pathways to be identified and implemented.
The work undertaken will provide insight into the ambitions and consideration of future services within One Adoption South Yorkshire, inclusive of the development of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
This is a split post providing specialist clinical assessments with adopted children, young people and adults known to the Regional Adoption Agency, One Adoption South Yorkshire (0.6wte).
The successful applicant can be employed on a flexible basis that would consider a range of options. Ideally, One Adoption South Yorkshire would like to appoint to 3 days per week [0.6fte] but would consider 2.5 days [0.5fte]. These days could be combined with other vacant roles within RDaSH for a Clinical Psychologist to make the appointment up to a maximum of 5 days per week.

Options:
- 3 or 2.5 days to work for OASY employed by RDaSH.
- 3 days or 2.5 days with OASY plus additional 1, 2 or 2.5 days for RDaSH in another Clinical Psychologist post.
Job Purpose:
* Be accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist Clinical Psychology assessment, formulation, and intervention (including delivering attachment-based and developmental trauma-informed interventions) to children and young people with complex psychological or mental health conditions.
* To provide expert advice, clinical consultation, and training to colleagues, internal teams, and external partners.
* To provide clinical consultation to RAA practitioners undertaking adoption support assessments and applications to the Adoption Support Fund.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Current registration with HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
* Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Post-doctoral training in attachment-based interventions.
