We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to join their team in a full-time, permanent capacity, starting this September. Position Summary The successful candidate will lead the school's SEND provision, championing the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities Strategically develop and implement the school's SEND policy and provision. Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with SEND. Lead and manage the school's team of SEN Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants. Liaise with parents and carers to provide information and support regarding their child's SEND needs. Collaborate with external agencies, such as educational psychologists and therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to SEND provision. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification. The National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination or a willingness to work towards this qualification. Proven experience in a SENDCo role or a similar capacity within a mainstream secondary school setting. In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
