An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 7 to head up our Acute Frailty Unit, also known as Durrington ward within the Division of Medicine.
The ward leader will need to demonstrate a flexible approach in managing the daily clinical workload and have the interpersonal skills to manage a dynamic workforce. The post holder will also work closely with the Acute Medical Unit and the Emergency Department providing high quality care within this interesting and diverse inpatient ward.

Please note we require an experienced Registered Ward Leader/Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse with current NMC Registration.
Main duties of the job
1. To assume responsibility for the designated ward and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
2. To lead and develop the nursing team in the care of elderly patients and assist in the development of clinical competencies.
3. To work in a 20:80 split, both clinically on the ward and in a managerial capacity.

Education, qualifications and training
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of clinical leadership and management
Desirable criteria
* Leadership and/or Management course; Advanced communication skills training
Experience
Essential criteria
* Minimum of 2 years experience as a Band 6
* Experience as a senior nurse with the ability to demonstrate utilisation and facilitation of evidence-based practice.
* Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area.
Desirable criteria
* Demonstrable experience of collaborative working and service development.
* Experience of change management and project development.
