Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This offers the opportunity to join a cohesive and progressive Gastroenterology and Hepatology department which has an excellent track record in clinical service delivery, research, teaching & training.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of 11 WTE Gastroenterologists fully supported by specialist nurses and advanced diagnostic services. We currently have specialist Hepatology nurses delivering a viral Hepatitis service and contributing to the management of cirrhosis patients (including a daycase paracentesis service). They will participate in a 1 in 11 out of hours GI bleeding on call rota.
Job responsibilities
This is a replacement post, which would maintain our current position of having 3 dedicated Hepatologists. The post holder is expected to have broad experience of Hepatology, Gastroenterology and endoscopy as the role contributes to the core Gastroenterology elective and emergency service but with special emphasis on delivering Hepatology services.
The department has an established Hepatology service with close links to our local liver transplant centre (Leeds). Bradford Gastroenterology service also has expertise in managing Complex IBD, Nutrition and Hepato-biliary diseases in addition to advanced therapeutic endoscopic services and a bowel cancer screening programme. The applicant will have the opportunity to further develop a specialist interest alongside our existing team and we would welcome applicants with an interest in developing the efficiency of the service through, for example, utilising technology.
Person Specification
Experience
* Evidence of completing a period of approved training in Gastroenterology /Hepatology
* Experience in Hepatology/Liver transplant medicine
Qualifications
* CCT or CESR within 6 months of AAC date
* On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice
