Along with a £2.5m investment in a new dairy unit including new beef housing, a new milking parlour, robot milker and new manure/slurry storage we are also investing in the team itself by increasing the staffing of the Farm team.
So, if you are you interested in training and developing the farm workers of tomorrow and want to be part of our team bringing to life the new investment and state of the art facilities then we would like to hear from you.
Based at the Sparsholt college campus, this role consists of 2 main elements:
1.For two days per week during term-time you will be instructing learners in practical agricultural and farm skills. What you are asked to deliver will be dependent upon your skills and experience but you must be able to provide instruction in at least one of the following: use of farm machinery, tractor driving, farm machinery maintenance, livestock practicals (with dairy/beef cattle, sheep or pigs)
2.Undertaking farm duties, and assisting other farm colleagues, as assigned by the Farm Manager. The duties undertaken will be tailored to the skill set and interests of the successful applicants.
If the applicant is machinery orientated, then tractor driving will form the vast bulk of the work alongside the maintenance of machinery and a small amount of some stock work.
If the applicant is livestock orientated, then the bulk of the work will be with animals, mostly pigs and sheep, but also with cows as well depending on skill set. There will be some basic tractor driving associated with the running of the units.
Please see the job descriptions for both roles for full details. Full training will be available to balance the skill set of the applicant with the job role.
The successful candidate will have practical experience and knowledge gained from working within the Agricultural industry, have a keen interest in supporting and developing young people and be willing to attain a Level 3 Award in Education & Training qualification (delivered in-house) and undertake an in-house development programme to provide the necessary skills and competencies to deliver instruction sessions. The role provides a great opportunity to progress into full-time Instructing or Lecturing if that is your longer term career aspiration.
If you would like to speak to the Farm Manager about the role in more detail or have any queries then in the first instance please contact the HR team.
