Job summary The Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian will be responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient Dietetic service to the Paediatric Diabetes service within University Hospitals Plymouth. The post holder will work as part of a patient focused multi-professional team and act as a source of Diabetes Dietetic knowledge and expertise for the Paediatric Service. The post-holder will manage their own clinical caseload of patients including patients with Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. The post holder will be adaptable and motivated to develop and run the Dietetic Diabetes service within the Paediatric service throughout University Hospitals Plymouth. Main duties of the job To provide a specialist and comprehensive Dietetic service to patients under the care of the Paediatric Diabetes team at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP).Supporting education of children, young people and their families, and to train and educate HCPs on Paediatric Diabetes. The post will cover mostly outpatient work, however ward reviews will be done for new and existing patients admitted to the ward with a new diagnosis of Diabetes or stabilisation. To lead and develop the Paediatric Diabetes service to include MDT clinics and delivery of education for those newly diagnosed, work alongside the paediatric diabetes specialist nurse team, diabetologists, psychologist and pre-existing diabetes service. To lead service development within Paediatric Diabetes and contribute to the day to day running and development of the dietetic service through the promotion, adaptation and development of policies, procedures and guidelines using evidence-based practise and current research.
