An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bereavement Services Team for a Crematorium Assistant. Cardiff Bereavement Services operates a crematorium and 8 cemeteries across Cardiff, delivering a high standard of service to the bereaved and service users in a sensitive working environment. The Cemeteries Administration Officer will be based at Thornhill Cemetery and will be the first point of contact for the public and stakeholders regarding queries and complaints, as well as offering administrative assistance to the Cemeteries and Memorial Teams.
About the job
The key role of the post will be to provide an efficient and high-quality first point of contact for all inquiries for the Cemetery and Memorial teams. The main responsibilities include:
1. Logging queries and complaints and liaising with the Cemeteries Managers and Memorial Registrar.
2. Offering administrative assistance to the Cemeteries and Memorial teams, including taking minutes of meetings, filing, returning messages, and organizing diaries.
3. Providing sexton cover and support on occasions.
What We Are Looking For From You
We seek an individual with:
1. Experience in a customer-oriented service.
2. Effective communication skills.
3. Good organizational skills and the ability to create and maintain databases.
4. Ability to manage appointments within timescales and attention to detail.
5. Capability to work independently and manage diaries alongside other service provisions.
6. Competence in using IT systems and dealing with distressed individuals empathetically.

This is a part-time role for 25 hours per week. The advertised salary is based on a full-time position and will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis, ranging from £17,015 to £18,425 per annum, depending on hours worked.
