Job summary This is a replacement Consultant post. The remit of the post holder will be to work the multi-disciplinary team providing and continuing to develop emergency care for patients. The post holder will also be expected to develop the cataract service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff (medical and non-medical). Main duties of the job This clinical post is based mainly at King's College Hospital's south sites (Queen Mary's Hospital site and the Princess Royal Farnborough site), though there is potential to support any of King's sites as appropriate. The proposed Job Plan (up to 10 PAs) is attached. This is subject to review within 3 months of the post holder commencing in post. The postholder will be expected to provide consultant support for the Eye Emergency services and developing the cataract service. As well as this the post holder will be expected to investigate new ways of providing emergency eye care. There will also be the opportunity to develop links with the Emergency Eye services at other trusts. There may be a requirement to work at other Trust sites depending on clinical and service need. In addition, the post-holder may work with local clinical commissioning groups to devise appropriate patient care pathways and services in primary care.
