Day Rate: Negotiable based on experience Contract Duration: 8 Month Contract Closing Date: 31 March 2025 About Us A local authority in the East of England is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, residents, and visitors. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team and lead our health and safety initiatives across all departments. Key Responsibilities Develop and Implement Health and Safety Policies : Create, review, and update health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices. Risk Assessments : Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for all council operations and facilities, identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigation strategies. Training and Development : Design and deliver health and safety training programs for staff at all levels, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to maintain a safe working environment. Incident Management : Investigate accidents and incidents, develop corrective action plans, and ensure timely reporting and documentation. Compliance Monitoring : Perform regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies. Emergency Planning : Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for various scenarios. Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in health and safety. IOSH Membership (preferably Chartered status). Extensive Experience in health and safety management within a large organization, preferably in the public sector. Strong Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques. Excellent Communication Skills : Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization. Project Management Skills : Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
