Description
We’re looking for a Rehabilitation Support Worker to work with our 52-year-old client who sustained a traumatic brain injury as a child. You will be supporting them to access the community and prompting them to complete daily living activities in their own home.
Our client has a keen mind for information/general knowledge, enjoys computing, TV quizzes and building Lego. Our client attends regular community-based activities independently however there may be occasions where he attends additional activities/events and needs support. Our client is also supported to make his meal each evening by an agency so collaborative working is valued. A friendly disposition, sense of humour and great conversation skills are essential.
The salary for this role is £14.00 per hour depending on experience.
Duties
Your duties will include:
* Prompting client to maintain his safety at home and in the community.
* Support to remain socially active and appropriate.
* Support with recognizing changes in behaviour and how this may impact on health and wellness.
* Support to maintain home environment.
* Arrange and attend appointments, shopping and meal planning.
* Liaising with family, team and professionals to meet health needs and behaviour support.
* Building a friendly supportive relationship where client feels heard, understood and in control.
* Recording accurately how each session went.
Key skills, knowledge and experience
* Previous experience of supporting work in clients' homes and ideally some experience with brain injury survivors.
* Driving licence and car ownership is essential as client will use your car to access the community.
* Trained to NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent experience, e.g. completed year 1/level 4 of a recognised health profession degree course).
* A completed Care Certificate is desirable.
