To provide exemplary care of patients within the Gynaecology Theatres with the possibility of working occasionally in Obstetric Theatres.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
* Deliver a high standard of perioperative care without direct supervision, based upon a sound evidence base.
* Provide skilled clinical assistance to the anaesthetic and recovery teams.
* Undertake and document comprehensive, systematic and accurate perioperative care assessment of the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the patient where appropriate.
* Create and utilize opportunities to promote health and wellbeing of patients in their care.
* Lead a perioperative team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
* Work within the NMC/HCPC Guidelines and Trust Policies recognizing one's own abilities and limitations.
* Maintain a good standard of communication with the multi-disciplinary team and respect the confidentiality of patients, relatives, and colleagues.
* Ensure 24-hour cover, working rotational shifts to include earlies, lates, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
* Influence and monitor the standards of direct patient care delivery in accordance with best practice and operational protocols and guidelines.
* Promote good working relationships within the perioperative teams providing appropriate advice and support.
* Facilitate the development of standards of care and assist with the implementation of appropriate monitoring techniques.

Job responsibilities
* Provide exemplary care of patients within the perioperative and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in the operating theatre.
* Support the Senior Team Leaders/Theatre Manager to manage a team of practitioners ensuring the development and maintenance of high standards of Perioperative care.
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational and resource management of the clinical area.
* Take the lead for specific areas of professional practice as delegated by the Senior Team Leaders.
* Act as a leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by more junior qualified staff, unqualified staff, and student nurses/ODPs in the perioperative team.
* Take responsibility for operational and financial resource management, as delegated by Senior Team Leaders/Theatre Manager.
* Deputise for the Senior Team Leaders in their absence.
Person Specification
* Ability to lead a Team
* Band 6 experience within the Perioperative environment
* Registered General Nurse and/or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Experience of Resource Management
* Experienced Scrub Practitioner - Gynaecology
* Positive working relationships
* Good organisational skills
* Proven leadership skills
* Ability to work under pressure to meet required deadlines
* Experience of Clinical Audit
* Experienced Recovery Practitioner
