Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Old Road Campus Research Building, Oxford, OX3 7DQ We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine. As the IT Manager, you will be key in supporting research and operational needs, providing desktop support, and managing the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. You will ensure compliance with policies at the unit, divisional, and university levels and act as a key advisor on IT solutions for current and future research needs at the Ludwig Institute. You will be responsible for maintaining Ludwig Institute databases and servers including the NetApp storage, the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment, and other ad-hoc devices such as Synology NAS units. You will be tasked with promoting information security across the Institute and fostering a high compliance environment with departmental, divisional, and University-wide policies. Cultivate a best practice environment within the institute and monitor compliance. You will be working with the Business Manager and NDM colleagues to evaluate requirements for the management and infrastructure, equipment, and staffing required for newly created units within wider NDM. You will also be responsible for administering the computing environment and managing technical operations to provide a consistent and high-quality user experience, acting as the primary point of contact for all IT-related technical issues predominately within the Ludwig Institute following MSD IT management tools and code of practice. To be successful in this role, you will be educated to a degree level or equivalent in an IT-related subject with relevant career experience along with a good understanding of PC and Apple hardware and software (including Linux). You will have extensive experience in troubleshooting IT problems a track history of effective issue resolution and previous experience administering an enterprise-class storage system, such as NetApp. You will also have Financial management experience, including experience in budget management, large-scale procurement and tendering, and managing 3rd party suppliers/contracts as well as project management experience, preferably within a higher education setting. Being highly organised, having excellent attention to detail, having problem-solving skills, and being effective in prioritising work to meet deadlines, with a proven record of analytical is also essential for this role.
