We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
As the IT Manager, you will be key in supporting research and operational needs, providing desktop support, and managing the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. You will ensure compliance with policies at the unit, divisional, and university levels and act as a key advisor on IT solutions for current and future research needs at the Ludwig Institute.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining Ludwig Institute databases and servers, including the NetApp storage and HPC environment.
2. Promoting information security across the Institute and fostering a high compliance environment with departmental, divisional, and University-wide policies.
3. Working with the Business Manager and NDM colleagues to evaluate requirements for management and infrastructure, equipment, and staffing for newly created units within wider NDM.
4. Administering the computing environment and managing technical operations to provide a consistent and high-quality user experience.
5. Acting as the primary point of contact for all IT-related technical issues within the Ludwig Institute, following MSD IT management tools and code of practice.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A degree level or equivalent in an IT-related subject with relevant career experience.
2. A good understanding of PC and Apple hardware and software (including Linux).
3. Extensive experience in troubleshooting IT problems and a track record of effective issue resolution.
4. Previous experience administering an enterprise-class storage system, such as NetApp.
5. Financial management experience, including budget management, large-scale procurement and tendering, and managing 3rd party suppliers/contracts.
6. Project management experience, preferably within a higher education setting.
7. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
8. A proven record of analytical skills.

Salary (£): Standard Grade 7: £38,674 - £46,913 with a discretionary range to £51,059 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year (pro rata).
