Project Information:
Timelines is in development as an inclusive, immersive timeline installation, with the aim of educating and engaging audiences to consider positive futures for all.
The original artwork is a digital illustration. Recently, this work has been gamified during an Immersive Arts Bootcamp at BOM (Birmingham Open Media). The work includes 4 intersectional timelines of little known histories and hard won rights:
1. Land and Environmental histories
2. LGBTQ+ and Women's histories
3. Black and Colonial histories
4. Neurodivergent and Disability histories
Jill is building towards several funding applications to expand Timelines as a large-scale intersectional timeline installation. Thanks to support from Arts Council England's Develop Your Creative Practice (DYCP) funding, she is actively engaged in a range of processes to gamify the timeline using Unreal Engine, while also collaborating with 6 diverse artists from British Columbia, Aotearoa-New Zealand, India, and the UK to develop ‘in real life’, playful elements for the installation. These will be supplemented by further digital interactions, including animation, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and video.
As a Neurodivergent artist, working in audiovisual installation, Jill has written, managed and delivered several successful projects of her own, most of which have been Arts Council funded. Her process is often to engage audiences with cultural/found objects to unfold stories and forge new creative collaborative expression. This is recorded, curated and shared via exhibition. Further development comes from responses to workshops and exhibitions, adding to the conversation.
Timelines has the potential to be bigger than anything Jill has managed before, and she is eager for it to reach its full potential. She needs to work and collaborate with organisations, artists and audiences and this is where she needs the support of a Producer.
