Job Title: Support Worker – Learning Disabilities
Location: Edinburgh
Contract: 12 weeks temporary with potential permanent opportunity thereafter
Pay: £16.95p/h umbrella or £13.15p/h PAYE
About the Role:
21 Health and Social Care is looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join a learning disability service based in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity to support individuals with learning disabilities in achieving greater independence and enhancing their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Personalised Support: Assist individuals with learning disabilities in their day-to-day activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
* Promoting Independence: Encourage and support service users in developing life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and accessing community resources.
* Emotional and Social Support: Build trusting relationships with service users, providing emotional support, and encouraging social interactions and participation in activities.
* Care Planning: Work closely with the team to develop, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to each individual’s needs and aspirations.
Requirements:
* Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within the health and social care sector is desirable, but not essential.
* Compassionate and Patient: A genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and the ability to remain patient and calm in challenging situations.
* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with service users, families, and colleagues.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends.
* Desirable Qualifications: SVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
