A National Charity is looking for a dedicated Housing Support Worker to join their team in London, SW8, providing housing-related support to service users while managing tenancies effectively.
THE ROLE
As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide tailored support to individuals, helping them sustain tenancies, access essential services, and work towards independent living. Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing a caseload of 5-6 service users per week, ensuring clear and accurate record-keeping.
2. Supporting clients with housing and welfare benefit claims to maximize rent collection and minimize arrears.
3. Addressing maintenance issues in properties and following up as required.
4. Working closely with probation services, GPs, mental health teams, and other support agencies.
5. Developing and implementing effective support and safety plans, ensuring progress is recorded and reviewed.
6. Assisting service users in developing life skills, including domestic tasks and independent living skills.
7. Ensuring compliance with tenancy and support agreements, taking appropriate action in cases of non-compliance.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar housing support role, working with vulnerable individuals. You will also have:
1. Experience in tenancy sustainment and housing management.
2. Knowledge of welfare benefits and rent collection processes.
3. The ability to build effective relationships with external agencies and service users.
4. Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep detailed and accurate records.
5. A proactive approach to resolving housing-related issues and supporting service users towards independence.
THE CONTRACT
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM
3-month contract, with potential for a temp-to-perm opportunity
£15.45 per hour (LTD) / £13.17 per hour (PAYE, inclusive of holiday pay)
