Staff Nurse CCU - Ward 1E

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Staff Nurse to join our dedicated and friendly team of staff on The Coronary Care Unit, Ward 1E at Whiston Hospital.
Ward 1E is an extremely busy unit with a high turnover of patients and staff care for acutely ill patients with a wide range of Cardiology and medical conditions. There are 9 Consultant Cardiologists based on the unit. We have very close liaison with the Accident and Emergency Department, Cardiac Diagnostics and our Cardiology ward 1D.
The post holder is expected to rotate to both days and nights, and to be flexible in their approach to caring for a group of patients.
The post holder will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible in association with the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care plans.
* To participate in the holistic assessment of patients and to formulate and review individual patient care plans and to act as ‘named nurse’ or associate for a group of patients from admission to discharge as determined by the Ward Manager.
* To commence and participate in research/special projects as directed by the ward manager.
* To contribute to the setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care within the ward.
* Help to ensure that all equipment is in safe working order in conjunction with the department equipment controller.
* Internal rotation on to night duty and twilight shifts are required.
* To assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments as required.
* Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, with current NMC registration
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification/Training or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role
* Knowledge of current professional & clinical issues
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures
* Significant post registration experience within an acute hospital setting
Skills
* Effective record management
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to manage time and prioritise effectively
