GSL is looking for a KS3 to join a SEMH school based in Eltham. This is an unique opportunity for a dedicated teaching professional to be part of a supportive and dynamic team. The successful teacher will be responsible for the education and welfare of learners, ensuring adherence to the National Curriculum and the school’s policies.
* The School offer tailor made pathways for pupils who may have found mainstream education difficult - but this does not mean that they would not have the opportunity to return, either to a mainstream secondary school or further education.
* At Key Stage 3, which for this school is Years 7 and 8, the pupils receive a tailored curriculum, mainly based in one 'home room' with the same teacher and TA. They receive specialist input from the maths, science, art, music, catering specialists within the school.
Job Purpose
The KS3 Teacher will actively promote the educational aims and ethos of the school. You will teach a range of subjects alongside subject specialists to pupils, contributing to the development of departmental schemes of learning, setting and marking homework, and monitoring and assessing students in line with school policy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Teaching a range of subjects to Key Stage 3 pupils
* Adhering to departmental schemes of work, the National Curriculum, and relevant subject specifications
* Contributing to the development of departmental schemes of learning
* Setting and marking homework in line with school policy
* Monitoring and assessing students in line with school policy
* Actively promoting the school’s high expectations and equal opportunities policy
* Contributing to the school’s meeting cycle
* Maintaining a safe and attractive teaching and learning environment
Other Duties
* Assisting in ensuring the smooth running of the school, including acting in a management capacity as needed
* Helping to maintain outstanding behaviour around the school by undertaking daily duties and providing pastoral support for pupils
* Maintaining sound procedures for security, supervision, and maintenance of the school environment, ensuring all safeguarding/health and safety regulations are met
* Modelling the highest standards of professional conduct and supporting excellence in all practice within the school
