As Garment Technologist, you will be responsible for the fit and quality of samples for designated retail brands at this leading supplier, working within a large multi-functional team dedicated to the design, development, and production of high-quality multi-product woven and jersey fashion including denim, casualwear, activewear, nightwear, soft separates, and tailoring. Reporting to the Technical Manager.
The successful individual will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in garment technology with a passion for garment construction and an eye for fit and design.
This is an office-based position due to the nature of the work, with the flexibility to work one day from home when possible.
Main Responsibilities
1. Oversee samples at all stages from first fit and sealer to production sample.
2. Prepare technical workbooks for the factories to include final spec sheet and photos with make details for the factory ensuring they are both accurate and complete.
3. Provide technical advice on garment construction to buyers at first fit stage to ensure production viability without jeopardising cost or design integrity.
4. Organise and attend remote and office-based fit meetings with customers.
5. Write detailed fit comments for the factories to easily understand.
6. Check samples for measurements, quality, construction methods, fabric, and labelling and set standards for the factory.
7. Monitor the sealing process to ensure approvals are achieved within the required time frame.
8. Check and approve graded specs with factories and amend where required.
9. Input information for size charts.
10. Monitor and update the critical path for all styles.
11. Access and update online Customer Web Portals in relation to fits.
12. Throughout the sample process ensure the PLM system is updated at each stage of the process.
13. Liaise with the womenswear design, fabric, and merchandising teams and customers.
14. Continually assess quality levels and construction techniques, ensuring factories adhere to customer specifications, ensuring that sealing samples follow retailer guidelines.
15. Occasional travel to customers and the factories in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Bangladesh to assess products at pre-production and production AQL stages.
Essential Skills
1. Garment Technologist with at least 5 years experience.
2. Technical or product background in multi-product fashion.
3. Experience overseeing fit samples from first fit and sealer to production sample.
4. Strong fashion eye with the ability to complete most of the work before sealing sample stage.
5. Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
6. Highly organised with sound knowledge of the critical path.
7. Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Proactive in taking the initiative to ensure the technical and sealing process runs smoothly and on time.
9. Computer literate MS Word and Excel.
Salary & Benefits:

2. Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 5:30, Friday 9:00 to 4:30.
