Wolters Kluwer is looking for a Product Manager for our Indirect Tax product Tax Forms Team who can take the lead in providing direction and clarification to the Form Team Product Owners and Agile development teams to project, create and prioritize development of tax forms. This includes helping to develop project roadmaps for new Form/Industry development. The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring project work meets the agreed upon acceptance criteria and overall market need.
In essence the Product Manager should be detail oriented and focused on the near to midterm of the product life cycle and be able to advise Management on the same both verbally as well as via Presentations as needed. The Product Manager must be able to explain complex information to others in a straightforward manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure the Product Owners and Agile Teams always are clear on direction and prioritization of roadmap items to ensure they can meet projected deadlines for rollout. The Product Manager will be expected to have basic technical and analytical skills as well as understanding the fundamentals of the tax and regulatory industry.
* The Product Manager plans and prioritizes product feature backlog and development for the product. They set the iteration themes and participate in Team Planning meetings. Product Managers are available to provide advice, clarification, and guidance during the execution of each Sprint. The product manager champions sufficient customer engagement during the development through, for example, product demonstration and customer feedback. The Product Manager inspects, accepts or rejects completed work from the development Sprint.
* The Product Manager proactively works with the Product Portfolio/Line Manager to understand the product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities near term and long term for the product portfolio they support. This includes understanding target customer segment(s) success criteria and goals, etc.
* The Product Manager ensures that the Product Backlog is constantly prioritized to secure delivery of maximum business value. This includes making rapid tactical development decisions if they impact functionality or usability. Additionally, they monitor the progress of development and adjust based on larger strategic objectives.
* The Product Manager works in relevant structures (e.g. Scrum of Scrums) to manage dependencies and set priorities across multiple teams and Backlog items and to maintain alignment to the Release Product vision and roadmap. The Product Manager has final sign-off of the Product Release at the different levels.
* In determining relative business value of the backlog items, the Product Manager uses necessary inputs such as customer priorities, competitive and industry research, and the need to address technical debt. The resultant Product Backlog is aligned with various stakeholders.
* Product Knowledge - Becomes a subject matter expert in the relevant product domains. It is expected that the Product Manager will quickly become an expert in the product from a feature/functionality perspective and will be able to proficiently demonstrate product functionality while articulating the value to clients.
* Market Knowledge – Develops an understanding of target market and user base and uses this to guide product decisions. Spends appropriate time in the field speaking with customers, non-customers and evaluators to observe their use of the product.
* Product Presentations - Acts as product champion and presents designs and released work to the sales teams, marketing teams, training & support personnel and select lead user customers.
* Financial – The Product Manager is responsible for understanding and delivering on ROI, for the projects they are working on and the Product Component they are supporting.
* Stakeholders – The Product Manager is responsible for managing business stakeholders and keeping them informed with key roadmap items.
Job Qualifications
Education:
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience required
Experience:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience with high workload capability; content/projects in various stages of completion
* Minimum 4 years of experience in tax research or related experience preferred
* Minimum 2 years of experience in product or project management for research and content products or equivalent experience preferred
* Minimum 1 years’ experience with people management; ability to simultaneously manage multiple people and teams preferred
* Experience working or researching in global markets is desired

* Organizational skill including time management and project management
* Proficient at breaking down complex ideas into simple concepts
* Experience with translating business requirements into technical requirements and defining acceptance criteria for functional and non-functional requirements preferred
