Castle Gate is a short break service for children and young people with disabilities and complex health needs; we provide overnight respite and daycare opportunities for up to 6 young people per day.
We are looking for flexible and dynamic people to join our team as part of a rota, which covers 7 days a week. The work pattern will cover a mixture of early mornings, evenings and daycare during the school term and school holidays. We also require staff to be available to sleep-in as part of a rota for which an extra payment will be made. Role and Responsibilities
As a Residential Child Care Officer, you will be responsible for:
* Working directly with children and young people to provide support, guidance, and encouragement
* Ensuring the delivery of high-quality residential care in accordance with regulatory requirements and standards
* Contributing to the assessment, planning, and review processes for individual children and young people
* Promoting and safeguarding the welfare and rights of children and young people
* Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure holistic support for individuals
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with legal and organisational requirements
You will work under the guidance of the Registered Manager, reporting on progress and contributing to team meetings and discussions.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Relevant experience working in a residential childcare setting
* Sound knowledge of childcare legislation, regulations, and standards
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, and colleagues
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Strong organisational and time management abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Commitment to continuous professional development
A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent is essential for this role.
