Based within the London office, The Senior Business Analyst (BA) will work in the Data and Analytics vertical reporting into the functional lead. This role is responsible for enhancing and optimising the use of commodity data (power, gas and metals) across the Trading IT landscape. It will involve producing analysis of SEFE Marketing and Trading’s existing and new business processes and proposing best practice methods to support these. Their key objective will be to provide data-orientated technical expertise to a dynamic Front Office department that handles large datasets.
They will work alongside Business Analysts, Application Support Analysts, Developers, UTA team and Architects, to support and resolve incidents and, to drive innovation and automation, tooling and data infrastructure development. This is a business facing role so excellent communication (written and spoken) and negotiation skills are essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will work both autonomously and as part of a highly skilled team to drive business process improvements and technology-enabled change. Your ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation will ensure the successful delivery of SAP FICO solutions that align with business objectives.
In addition, you will have experience working with complex data sets to optimise business processes. Your analytical skills will enable you to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring that financial and operational workflows are streamlined and data-driven decision-making is enhanced.
* Responsible for data provisioning - bringing in market data (Prices, FX Rates) and fundamentals data (Auction results, Consumption, Generation), including historical data, into the organisation.
* Enhance and expand our in-house data platform by adding new features, such as data integrity checks, data governance, and data visualization.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine business requirements.
* Detailed documenting of requirements (user stories) as well as ‘how to’ guides and sharing of technical knowledge.
* Challenge business and technical requirements that are deemed unfit for the intended purpose and propose alternative ideas or suggestions that meet the needs effectively.
* Driving a better understanding of the value of data with stakeholders and users and contribute to improvements in data management and data quality.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
You will be comfortable working with commodity data across Power, Gas, and Metals, bringing a strong understanding of trading and financial terminology. Your familiarity with these markets will enable you to effectively support business processes and financial operations within a trading environment.
Experience working with market data providers such as ZEMA, Refinitiv PointConnect, and Bloomberg is advantageous. Your ability to integrate and utilise market data effectively will contribute to improved decision-making, reporting accuracy, and overall business efficiency.
* Ability to conduct technical analysis (e.g., API connectivity with exchanges using tools such as Postman), and work with real-time data.
* Ability to triage and troubleshoot issues in production for delivered items, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact (using tools such as ELK: Elastic Search, Kibana).
* Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, Power BI, Tableau).
* Proficient in data analysis for various data formats (e.g., JSON, CSV, SQL).
* A strong understanding of the Commodities Trading landscape (both physical and financial).
* Self-motivated and able to work within a team environment.
* Ability to grasp complex business issues and contribute to IT solutions.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
