This full-time role of Business Development Manager reports directly to the Sales and Commercial Director, within the Sales department.
Job Purpose:
Portals are continuing our journey of growth and expansion and we are looking for a dynamic, experienced Business Development Manager to help realise our potential. With a long-standing future, we need a Business Development Manager equally committed to building long-standing partnerships with our brilliant customers and collaborating with the identity industry in a wider capacity.
This role involves international travel (50% of the time) and working both onsite and remotely. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in high-security products and the identity industry and a proven track record of being a trusted leader in the sector. This person must be dynamic, ingrained growth mindset with a track record of being a trusted partner within the sector.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Working with the Sales & Commercial Director, formulate and execute a sales strategy to deliver sustainable growth for the business from new products and customers with a focus on product diversification.
2. An influencer in the ID industry, highly motivated by establishing long-standing relationships.
3. Regular, international travel in accordance with Sales Strategy and 5 year business plan.
4. Develop and maintain close relations with customers and all stakeholders in the ecosystem of identity.
5. Ability to listen to customer requirements, interpret and action with an ‘out of the box’ approach to business development – creative ideas, joint development and collaboration are welcome behaviours.
6. Conduct high-level research, including involvement in relevant working groups and organisations to develop effective sales solutions and inspire Portals R&D.
7. Contribute to the sales and operations management review / forecast management.
8. Closely integrated with Portals business operations, ensuring technical expertise and cultural representation in accordance with values and policies.
Qualifications and Experience
9. Established, international network within the high-security industry
10. Proven record of Sales Growth
11. Language skills are preferable, particularly Spanish
12. Experience within the ID industry is highly-preferable
13. Experience in management of third party agents and intermediaries
14. Extensive experience in strategic analysis and decision making accountability
15. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
16. Excellent commercial acumen
17. Calm under pressure; able to prioritise and delegate in line with business strategy
18. Knowledge of paper manufacturing/ substrates in the identity market
