Psychologist/CBT Therapist - Oxon Adult Community Eating Disorders
Are you qualified in psychology and seeking a new challenge in a challenging yet interesting & rewarding field?
We are looking for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join the Oxfordshire Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team based in Oxford. Over the past few years, the service has undergone significant transformation, including a skill mix review and successful recruitment. We are passionate about continuing to embed and build on these developments.
If you have interests you wish to develop, please discuss them with us. We will also consider applications from trainee counselling and clinical psychologists/CBT therapists who will soon be eligible for registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) or BABCP.
Main Duties of the Job
The main duties of the role will involve assessment and formulation, and delivering high-quality NICE-concordant psychological treatment (both on a 1:1 and in group format) to patients and their carers/families who are referred to the eating disorder service.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Providing specialist assessments, including CBT assessments of clients referred to the team based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from various sources.
* Planning and implementing formal CBT treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based on the client's issues, employing methods of proven efficacy.
* Implementing appropriate CBT interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting and refining formulations.
* Being responsible and accountable for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients managed by CBT-based standard care plans.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology or Masters/Diploma in CBT with a core qualification in a field of mental health, including psychiatric nursing, social work, or occupational therapy.
* Registration with HCPC or equivalent
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, staff training, and/or other fields of applied psychology
* BABCP accreditation OR willingness to work towards accreditation with accrediting bodies such as BABCP, SfDBT, or ACAT.
Knowledge/Skills
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized psychological therapies for clients with severe and complex mental health problems
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
* Well-developed skills in effectively communicating complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and professionals.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
* Good organizational and time management skills, ability to plan and prioritize own workload
* Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multimedia materials suitable for presentations within public, professional, and academic settings
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
* Knowledge of evidence models of treatment for Eating Disorders (MANTRA/CBT-ED/CBT-E/SSCM/CBT-T)
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design, and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology and psychotherapy.
Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, day services, and inpatient settings
* Demonstrated experience in providing CBT as a therapy
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
* Experience of running/co-running groups.
* Experience of working with people with an eating disorder presentation
