Job overview
We have 5 part time positions available in the Security Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, each averaging 21.25 hrs per week. The post holder will be on a rota providing cover afternoons and nights, primarily supporting our E&D department.
You will be an integral part of both the existing security team and the Emergency Department. We are looking for individuals who want to be part of the service and must demonstrate compassion and customer care skills.
Full training and support will be provided for all aspects of the role.
Key to your success in the post is that you recognize the majority of incidents you will respond to involve patients, and it is highly likely that they are not deliberately causing the need for security's involvement. A strong adherence to the PROUD values of the Trust is required.
After initial shortlisting, we will invite candidates to an informal open day to meet colleagues, security managers, gain greater knowledge of the post, and receive a site tour.
Main duties of the job
* Maintaining a highly visible deterrent by patrolling hospital sites on foot, checking all property and land associated with the Trust is secure and free of hazard.
* Carrying out Control room duties including monitoring of CCTV when providing cover for Control Room staff.
* Unlocking and locking of departments and taking off and resetting alarms as required.
* Escort and protect staff as required to maintain safety and security of staff, premises, and equipment.
* Collection and/or delivery of cash/cash boxes as instructed.
* Logging of lost property handed into security and creating and maintaining an appropriate audit log of that property.
* Receipt/issue of stores/equipment.
* To ensure that all patients, staff, and visitors are courteously received and assisted.
* Security marking of Trust equipment.
* Assisting with mortuary duties out of hours.
* Digital lock codes and maintaining records.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Applicants should be educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Hold a current SIA certificate Door supervisor or security guard.
* Hold a current SIA certificate in CCTV.
Experience
* Experience of undertaking dynamic risk assessments and taking appropriate action.
* Remain calm in stressful situations.
* Resilient in dealing with challenging behavior.
* Experience of working as part of a team and lone working.
* Customer care skills/experience/course attendance.
* Knowledge of CCTV systems.
* Knowledge and familiarity with the Data Protection Act (GDPR).
* Experience in a hospital or care environment.
