It is a significant base for the Navys maritime Merlins and as one of Europes largest helicopter bases, it employs 3,000 people. It oversees the training of rotary winged aircrew, firefighters and increasingly, the development of uncrewed air systems and training of UAS operators. RNAS Culdrose is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Information Management Officer to join the team here in Cornwall. Sitting within the Corporate Services Department, the Information Management Officer (IMO), has responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of IM on behalf of the Information Manager (iMgr) and acts as the point of contact for support on all Information Management (IM) issues. The team includes Civilian and Military personnel, is led by the Information Manager, and operates as part of the Corporate Services team within the Executive. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description The Information Management Officer (IMO) is a key member of the Information Management team. You will report to the Information Manager (iMgr) and assist with delivering their policies. You will support the Information Manager with developing, implementing, continually reviewing and refining the organisations information governance. This includes promoting good practice and maintaining compliance with statutory obligations. IMO's ensure best practice is implemented within the organisation and also facilitate access to information to maximise its exploitation and re-use. IMO's provide advice and guidance to the organisation about information handling, information life cycle management and the interpretation of policy. They assist the iMgr to procure, acquire and design information assets, systems and applications, and manage then through their life and their decommissioning. They also support iMgr and information risk owners in carrying out their responsibilities, working closely with Information Assurance (IA) and Information Technology (IT) colleagues. Main responsibilities Your main day-to-day activities will be: Support the Information Manager in the management and administration of Corporate Storage Locations. This includes Microsoft SharePoint and Teams sites, managing permission settings, site set-up and safeguarding content on OFFICIAL, and may include SECRET. Supporting the Information Manager in conducting information audits to make sure assets are safeguarded and the appropriate controls have been applied. Support the Information Manager in developing and updating key intranet sites. Manage and process SharePoint amendments, permission changes, and site editing. Providing advice on information management issues and promoting best practice relating to information management, including adherence to JSP441 and JSP440. Collaborating with teams and networks across the organisation to understand concerns, build consensus and help KIM (Knowledge and Information Management) messaging land. Highlight any compliance issues to the Information Manager. Secondary responsibilities Supporting the Information Manager in developing appropriate retention and disposal schedules for electronic content. Ensuring information management processes are kept up-to-date and reviewed regularly to ensure theyre fit for purpose under the latest KIM guidelines. Any other task or duty requested in line with grade identified. The list above is not exhaustive, and there will be some additional tasks held within some of the points above. This role will initially require the post holder to undertake a period of on-the-job training within Culdroses Information Management team and full support will be provided. You will become familiar with systems and procedures and build competence in specific aspects of the role and environment.
