Are you experienced at overseeing and coordinating complex and innovative projects across a number of multi-agency partners to develop and achieve agreed outcomes? The Northern Cancer Alliance (NCA) is looking for a Delivery Manager to join our team. As the Delivery Manager you will have considerable influence on the Cancer Alliances business of driving transformation by leading on excellent, planning, commissioning, and service provision. The post holder will work with a very wide range of partners across the health system at regional and national level with a particular focus on: Early Diagnosis of cancer: including improving performance at all points; prior to diagnosis, through primary care pathways and beyond. Creating and supporting innovation with key stakeholders including HI NENC as well as leading on the development of new genomic pathways in response to regional and national planning asks. The base for the role is in Newcastle, though this can be adjusted and covers the North East and North Cumbria, however the whole team is working in a hybrid way at present. The majority of your time will be based at home, with site visits to Trusts etc. as required. The expectation is that there will continue to be flexible working between home and office in future. Main duties of the job You will be a leader of a dynamic team delivering the long-term plan for cancer. Developing and leading on specific priorities in complex, challenging and new areas. You will support other managers and staff across the Cancer Alliance ensuring that projects are planned and managed effectively and will take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery. Specifically, you will demonstrate experience of managing parallel projects including developing and managing the project plan, progress, and risk reporting risk as well as issue management. Demonstrate capability to act independently. on difficult and contentious issues where there may be a number of courses of action, working to tight and often changing timescales. Demonstrate a strong desire to improve performance and make a difference by focusing on goals. Particularly challenging as the delivery team is based in different organisations across the Cancer Alliance footprint. Be able to act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in service development and decision-making of the Cancer Alliance. Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the key strategic issues for Cancer. Experience Essential • Subject matter expertise across a number of key areas relating to Cancer, clinical pathways, communications, involvement, engagement, and project management. • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to masters level equivalent. • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development. • Comprehensive experience of project principles, techniques, and tools such as Prince 2 and Managing Successful Projects. • Have an understanding of the background to, and aims of, current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this, on public engagement. • Have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations. • Experience of managing and motivating a team/virtual team and reviewing performance of the individuals. • Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy.
