1:1 Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Leicester, LE2)\nRate:£90-£105 per day\nLocation: Leicester, LE2\nJob Type: Full-time, Long-term\n\nAgency: Aspire People\n\nAspire People are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with autism at a primary school in Leicester (LE2). This is a full-time, long-term role offering a competitive daily rate of £90-£105, depending on experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism and be passionate about providing tailored support to help them thrive in the classroom and beyond.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nOne-to-One Support: Provide individual support to a child with autism, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop social, emotional, and academic skills.\n\nBehavioural Support: Implement strategies to support positive behaviour, helping the child to manage emotions, interact with peers, and stay focused on tasks.\n\nAdaptation of Learning: Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons and resources to meet the child's specific learning needs and sensory requirements.\n\nSocial and Emotional Support: Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment, encouraging the child's self-confidence and independence.\n\nMonitoring Progress: Regularly assess the child's progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents on any challenges or improvements.\n\nCollaboration with Professionals: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with other teaching assistants, therapists, and specialists to provide the best possible support.\n\nEssential Requirements:\n\nExperience: Experience supporting children with autism or other additional needs, ideally in a school or educational setting.\n\nKnowledge of Autism: A strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions and the ability to implement strategies that meet the child's specific needs.\n\nPatience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to working with children with additional needs, understanding the importance of tailored support.\n\nDBS: A DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).\n\nCommunication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with the child, staff, and parents, building positive relationships with all parties.\n\nTeam Player: Ability to collaborate and work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff.\n\nDesirable Qualifications/Experience:\n\nRelevant Training: Training in autism awareness, behaviour management (such as Team-Teach), or other relevant qualifications is highly desirable.\n\nFirst Aid: Paediatric First Aid qualification is a plus.\n\nPlease Note: This is a full-time position, so applicants must be available for the entire duration of the placement.\n\nAt Aspire People, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment.
