Job Summary
The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the provision of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods for women and babies in the hospital/community setting.
You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, and implementation of care to both high and low-risk women in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period, also supporting the team/ward in the effective management of the clinical area.
You will support, supervise, and teach staff/students evidence-based client-centered care, which is of a high standard, being responsible for ensuring that all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records of care.
We have a robust preceptorship package in place for newly qualified midwives and a dedicated Practice Development Midwife.
Main duties of the job
The midwifery teams at WUTH provide care to approximately 3200 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period, both low and high-risk women. Encompassed within the unit is a Level 3 Unit for Neonatal Services, Children's Services, and Women's Unit.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an Enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.
As this vacancy is within the division of Women's and Children's, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.
