Job Description
We have a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated Risk Manager to have a positive impact on our Risk and Compliance team.
This senior role within the Risk function reports to the Head of Enterprise-wide Risk and Compliance, working closely with the Group Executive Committee. The role involves developing and embedding a robust Enterprise Risk Management Framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with strategic goals. Supporting esure's digital transformation, the role drives risk governance, oversees customer-facing functions, and promotes a strong risk culture across the organisation.
The day to day:
1. ERM Framework: Design and implement risk management policies and processes to manage esure's risks effectively.
2. Monitoring & Reporting: Develop Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and ensure timely risk exposure reporting to senior management and committees.
3. Coordinate the early identification, assessment, and management of material group-wide risks, reporting to collaborators.
4. Attestation Oversight: Support the annual Attestation process, ensuring regulatory obligations are met and evidenced.
5. Risk Event Framework: Provide 2nd line oversight and deliver accurate, insightful risk event reporting.
6. Operational Risk Management: Embed and ensure adherence to the Operational Risk Framework across the business.
7. Data Governance: Adhere to the Data Governance policy, managing sensitive and critical data per established standards and controls.
8. Expert Advice: Provide high-quality advice, oversight, and challenge to senior management and business areas on risk management.
9. Risk Initiatives: Lead risk initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with the Risk Governance Framework.
10. Regulatory Awareness: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and enterprise risk management trends.
Qualifications
1. Experience of working in the financial services in a Risk framework or partnering role.
2. Resilience and ability to provide effective insight and challenge at executive level.
3. Proficiency to work effectively as a member of the senior leadership team, with the ability to influence at a senior partner level.
4. Proven risk management experience within the regulated industry, ideally General Insurance.
5. Extensive knowledge of compliance, risk management and governance frameworks and the regulatory environment.
6. Proven people leadership skills, skilled in driving strong performance and leading established teams of professionals. Experience of delivering through a team and building an engaging environment to empower and engage the team.
7. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret and translate complex regulatory matters.
8. Ability to think and plan strategically and effectively manage change.
